You are where you are at this very moment in time.  This is not a philosophy, it is a fact.  Perhaps you’ve been treated poorly, perhaps bad things have happened to you, perhaps you’ve made mistakes, perhaps your ancestors were screwed (if you go back far enough, EVERYONE’S ancestors have been screwed), but in the final analysis none of this matters.  At this exact moment in time, you are where you are.  What has been done is done and it can’t be changed.  Take control of your life.  If you don’t like it, change it.  It is truly your only option.

Open your heart to all of the joy and beauty of your existence.  Open your heart to the profound goodness of all life.  Live a good life.  If you have children, enjoy them.  If you have a job, enjoy it.  If you have a pet, enjoy it.  If you breathe, enjoy it.  Whatever comes after death, comes.  You and I have no say in it.  Enjoy and revel in the present.

Your life isn’t a dress rehearsal – you only get right now once - then it is gone forever.

As a side note, some may comment on drugs and excessive alcohol bringing joy or happiness.  To this we respond with a simply observation which each of you can verify; have you ever seen anyone who uses drugs or consumes excessive alcohol being filled with joy?  They may be euphoric while high but in our experience, NEVER does this bring them joy.  ALWAYS it brings just the opposite – sadness, despair, destruction of families and friends, a wasting of their lives, and a soul that cries out in pain.  Please, the facts are clear – this is not the path to joy.
